The Association is managed by local residents. The committee meets regularly to review issues on behalf of residents and help promote community activities and interests.

We are proud of Poundbury and all it has to offer and believe it’s a great place to live, work and play. The Association holds at least four meetings a year, including our AGM, usually in the Spring. If there is a topic you would like to get aired at a future meeting, just complete our message form and we’ll get back to you.

Membership of the Association

Membership of the current Residents’ Association is open to all residents of Poundbury, defined as the Electoral Ward know as Dorchester Poundbury.  All you need to do is register with your basic details – see below.

Registered members have voting rights and access to discounts and promotions from local businesses. These will be displayed on the website, social media and in the various businesses. If in doubt, just ask.

Membership

Membership is currently FREE, but residents are welcome to make donations towards the Association’s running costs annually or whenever you feel so minded. Donations are gratefully received.

Once registered as a member, you will be added to the newsletter mailing list. If you no longer want to be on the mailing list just look for the ‘unsubscribe’ link at the foot of the newsletter.

Join the Association

Your membership card will be delivered to you by one of our committee volunteers. As a member, you will also be able to use your card at participating businesses who offer discounts, rewards and events, by way of thanks for your continued support.

About Poundbury

The development and project known as Poundbury has been under way since the early 1990s, having been identified by West Dorset District Council in 1987 as land upon which Dorchester could be expanded. If you would like to know more about the ‘Master Plan’ and the development, this can be found on the Duchy of Cornwall’s Poundbury website.

Management Companies

Poundbury Management Companies (MANCOS) run communal areas such as courtyards. If you have any queries on covenants, permissions, or maintenance of communal areas please visit the Poundbury MANCO website.

The committee are elected every AGM, usually in the Spring, although new members can be co-opted during the year.

The committee (as of September 2023) are:

  • Interim Chair – Rob Hattersley
  • Treasurer/Membership – Adele Brothwell
  • Secretary – Jackie Cassin
  • Big Conversation Lead – Simon Standish
  • Chris Turner
  • Mike Stear

The Big Poundbury Conversation which is taking place during summer 2023 is likely to lead to some changes in focus and structure, including of the leadership team.

We have an active group of volunteers including the Big Conversation Working Group.
