On Friday 5th May, the day before the King’s coronation, Catherine Smith, Headteacher of Damers School welcomed Philippa Thorniley, Poundbury resident, and Françoise Ha, PRA Chair to their special coronation assembly.
It was a wonderful event with lots of singing and discussion about the symbolism of items linked to the coronation ceremony.
Towards the end of the assembly Philippa presented special coronation pin badges to all the children to commemorate the coronation of King Charles III. These pin badges were jointly funded by Philippa and the Poundbury Residents’ Association and we thank Philippa for her generosity and determination to give the youngsters a special memento. The youngsters were very eager to get their hands on their own coronation pin badge and there were big smiles all round.
We hear that many of the children are still wearing their coronation pin badges to school!
