Extreme weather including horrific heatwaves and floods are being experienced all over the world this week, as a report suggests the UK is largely unprepared for the major disruption we will see within our lifetimes. What we see on our news feeds is with just 1.2’C heating. The French government said this week it was anticipating 4’C of warming by 2100, within the expected life spans of today’s children.
Dorset COP (Conference of the Parties) is Dorset’s very own opportunity for the community to have its say on the climate and ecological crises. By bringing together a wide cross section of community-based groups from across the county we hope to raise awareness of the need and desire to act locally, in a way that puts people at the heart of decisions and is socially just.
BBC Wildlife presenter Chris Packham, who recently presented Springwatch from Dorset, has recorded this video message for the Dorset conference.
The event will take place on Saturday 9th September 2023 at Corn Exchange, Dorchester from 9.30 – 17.00 (registration from 9.00).
