Caring for Pavilion Green

Pavilion Green, the lovely space behind Queen Mother Square, has reached an exciting milestone thanks to a new agreement between the Duchy of Cornwall and Dorchester Town Council.

Councillor William Gibbons highlighted the development, stating, “Good news at last! The Duchy of Cornwall and the Town Council have agreed Heads of Terms for the Council to adopt the Green on a long lease. This means that a bin will be provided and serviced by the Town Council, and I am assured that this will happen soon.

The Duchy will maintain the trees and shrubs for the next two years or until established to the satisfaction of the Town Council. The Duchy has recently carried out substantial replanting, which appears to be primarily yew hedges. Thanks to the community association, fellow councillors, and local residents who have campaigned long and hard for the bin. Persistence pays!

A Space for All

This achievement is a testament to the dedication of the councillors and the local community. Their efforts to work with the Duchy have secured a better prospects for the Green, ensuring it is a welcoming space for all.

You’re encouraged to visit and enjoy Pavilion Green's and the stunning views of Dorset’s rolling hills. Although construction continues to the west, it’s a perfect spot to relax and unwind.
