Fostering a Caring Community

Poundbury is known for its beauty and strong sense of community, and it's no surprise that so many of our residents enjoy the companionship of dogs and other pets. Our green spaces and walkable streets attract more pet owners than most places!
Of course, keeping this lovely place clean and pleasant isn't magic — it takes effort from all of us. While dog fouling attracts attention, it's worth noting that other animals like cats and foxes (and other nocturnal wanderers) also contribute to messes. But the task of keeping Poundbury tidy isn't about singling out pet owners but rather about fostering civic pride and working together for the benefit of everyone.
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the litter pickers who regularly volunteer their time to clear up after all kinds of debris, not just fouling. Their efforts play a vital role in maintaining the beauty of Poundbury's streets, parks, and play areas. But they can't do it alone!
Whether you're a proud dog or cat enthusiast or just someone who loves a good stroll, we all have a part to play in keeping the community clean. For pet owners, simple actions like cleaning up after your pet and following local guidelines about designated areas make a big difference. For others, even small actions like binning the odd stray crisp packet or nudging a friend about responsible pet care can help foster a cleaner, more welcoming neighborhood. Often, it's the little things that help a community shine.
By sticking together, we can keep Poundbury not just a brilliant place for pets, but a place we're all thrilled to call home. Thinking about joining the effort? Fancy a bit of litter picking? Get in touch with Councillor Frances Hogwood to lend a hand.
