Poundbury's cherished Great Field continues to delight residents and visitors. Thanks to recent upgrades and the ongoing care from Dorchester Town Council, this space remains a beloved destination for relaxation, play, and community activities.
Enhanced Access and New Additions
Following the harsh winter storms, sections of the Great Field's footpaths were damaged, creating challenges for some visitors. Responding quickly, Dorchester Town Council carried out vital repairs, restoring safe and comfortable access to the area.
One delightful new feature is catching visitors' attention near the top end of the play area. A picnic bench, generously donated by the Poundbury Community Trust, has been installed, offering the perfect spot to enjoy lunch, rest, or simply take in the view.
A Call to the Community
The improvements don't stop there. Dorchester Town Council is now seeking a donor for a second bench, planned for the area close to the Doctor's Surgery. This new addition could serve as a beautiful way to remember someone special while providing a gift for the entire community to enjoy.
A Space for Everyone to Enjoy
With the vibrant greenery of spring returning, the Great Field is beginning to look more beautiful than ever. Trees and hedges are filling out, creating an uplifting and serene atmosphere. Families can enjoy picnics, children can make full use of the play areas, and everyone can appreciate the calming charm of this community treasure.
Beyond the Great Field, Poundbury is home to many other lovely green spaces worth exploring, such as the Pavilion Green, Woodland Crescent, and Crown Square, each offering something unique to enjoy. Learn more about these wonderful spaces here.

Every improvement to the Great Field and green spaces around Poundbury reflects the care and dedication of the community and its local organisations. These areas continue to grow, both in beauty and as focal points for residents to connect, unwind, and feel at home.
