If your child or young person is finding things difficult over the summer holidays, let them know there is always someone they talk to. This time of year can be exciting, but it can also cause feelings of anxiety and stress, especially when it comes to exams, leaving or moving schools or having to find employment. It is important that any young person who may be struggling knows where they can go to get support.
For young people, it can feel hard to reach out and talk to someone they know. Local and national mental health organisations are on hand to listen, including 24/7 helplines Samaritans, Shout, Connection and Childline over the summer holidays. No matter how big or small the problem, no young person needs to face it alone – support is always available.
If you are a parent, carer or family member of a young person transitioning to secondary school or receiving exam results in August, there are free webinars which can help you explore ways to support them:
- Supporting young people with anxiety before results day webinar
- Transition to secondary school: supporting your Year 7 child webinar
